Patient Understanding of Patient Safety: Based on Results from Focus Group Discussion

Purpose: To examine the degree of recognition regarding concept patient safety, as perceived by patient, using a focus group discussion.Methods: A discussion was conducted with comprising seven patients.Results: When participants heard term “patient safety” they seemed to understand it be related hospital environment or satisfaction overall hospitalization experience. The emphasized communication between medical staff and patients in relation explanation treatments, well provision information prevention, experience, treatment incidents safety. They agreed on need for indicators reported patients. However, that additional items questionnaire method considers patients' point view are needed.Conclusion: It is necessary establish implement various strategies can raise awareness safety increase participation activities.
